Year 3

Online Learning

Hello to all of the wonderful children and parents in Year 3!

From Monday, we will start using Microsoft Teams, Purple Mash, Rising Stars and Mathletics for your online learning.  You can also use your other logins for additional practise of various skills, such as Spelling Shed, Times Table Rockstars and Oxford Owl. Below you will find a timetable for the weeks learning that will be taking place. On the timetable, you will also notice that I have included the app that you need to use to access the learning for that specific session.

I will upload new lessons/activities for you to do each day. I have also set up a drop in session on Teams where you will be able to ask myself any questions that you may have about your online learning.

You will find your lessons in the Assignments section of Microsoft Teams. Most of the tasks that you will complete for the assignments will be online. There will be task documents which you can easily type onto by clicking on the screen and typing into a text box. Then you can submit your work directly to me by clicking 'Hand In' when you have finished. If there are some activities that you prefer to do on paper, you can take a picture of your work and send it to me instead.

Below, there is a document which has some extra information for parents/guardians about how to use Microsoft Teams. If you cannot access the Microsoft Teams App on the device you are using at home, you can access Teams through the Microsoft webpage also.

Please don't worry- it might take us all a bit of time to get used to it at first!

If you haven't already done so, there are packs available for you to collect in school that contains an exercise book for any written work you wish to do and other resources which may assist you with your online learning. The packs will also include a document with all of your logins details and a printout of the Microsoft Teams Guide for you and your parents.

Keep up the hard work Year 3. I cannot wait to see you all very soon!

Welcome to the Year 3 Class page. I am Miss Hodges, the Year 3 class teacher.  The children will also be taught this year by Mrs Reece and will be supported by Miss Duffy. The children are all settling into Year Three very well and are working extremely hard! I am very proud to be teaching them this year.

Reading is a very important aspect of learning, and we actively encourage the children to read every day in school either one to one with a teacher, independently or with a partner. As you are aware, the children are not able to bring home any reading books at the moment, however, please still encourage reading with your child as often as you can using any suitable material you may have at home. For example, books, comics, leaflets, recipes.

Homework will be set every week on a Monday and is to be completed for the following Monday. The homework is to review what the children have learnt during the week and help to consolidate their learning. The homework will be set online using Mathletics, Purple Mash and Times Table Rock Stars.

I very much look forward to working with you all throughout this year and my door is always open if you have any questions about your child or the curriculum in Year 3.

Year 3 had an amazing Maths Party recently. They used some of their favourite songs to help them count in 4s and 8s, they tried to outwit their opponent in the Beetle Drive and they tried to beat a partner in various board games by crossing the finish line first.

Reading for pleasure is something that we love to spend time doing in Year 3, from comics and adventure stories accompanied by cool superhero music to uplifting, feel-good short stories with a piece of mellow music playing in the background. We value the importance of reading and falling in love with an amazing book!

Reading For Pleasure

We have been using our favourite books as inspiration when designing our own book covers.

Year 3 have been taking part in a 'Comic Book Club' every lunchtime. So far, we have written our own comic stories with ourselves as the main heroic character. We have also designed our own super heroes, super villains and super cities and are in the process of creating our very own comic books to tell some very exciting and action packed stories which will keep you so entertained, you will never want them to end!
