'Living, Loving, Learning Together'

I want my Mummy!

The Owl Babies

We have been reading the story Owl Babies.

We have been creating our own talk for writing story.

Our Story Map

We talked about the story of Owl Babies.

We have been talking about how Baby Bill felt when he thought his Mummy had left him.

We talked about how we felt when our Mummies left us in Nursery on our first day.

We talked about our friends and how they make us feel safe and happy. We were able to share what we like to do together.

Our friends make us happy!

So we decided to learn the story by creating our own story map.

The children decided the actions and were able to contribute their ideas.

We rehearsed our story map each day introducing a new part of the story.

We were able to use our story map to retell the story of Owl Babies.

Next we decided to help the Owl Babies and make them a home.

We created a home for the Owl Babies.

Annie was very keen to learn about Owls. So we discussed different types of Owls and different types of birds particularly Birds of Prey.

We looked at different types of Birds of Prey and found some interesting facts.

We then created our own 'All about Birds of Prey' fact sheet.

The children were fascinated with the different facts that we had discovered.

They created some observational drawings of the different Birds of Prey and were able to identify fascinating facts about each bird.

Can you guess the names of our Birds of Prey?

Do you know any fascinating facts about our birds that you could share with us?

Owl Babies - Picture Book Animation

Three baby owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill, wake up one night in their hole in a tree to find that their mother has gone. So they sit on a branch and wait. Darkness gathers and the owls grow anxious, wondering when their mother will return.
