'Living, Loving, Learning Together'
We Are Pilgrims of Hope
This autumn, we are continuing to reflect on our role as Pilgrims of Hope by considering how we live out our faith through action. Pupils have made personal pledges, engaged in reflective prayer, and will be preparing for fundraising activities inspired by CAFOD’s Brighten Up campaign over the coming weeks. These experiences help children understand the importance of hope, service and compassion in their everyday lives.
Care of Creation
At Holy Cross, our prayer and liturgy life nurtures both our faith and our care for the world around us. As part of the Creation and Covenant branch of the RED, pupils regularly engage with songs and prayers that celebrate God’s gift of creation and our responsibility to care for it. These moments help children reflect on the beauty of the world and consider how their actions can honour God’s covenant with creation.
The Canticle of the Sun
From 25th September to 4th October, our children will explore the Canticle of the Sun, inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi (Feast Day 4th October), as a way to give thanks for God’s creation. Through these prayers and songs, pupils develop a deep sense of gratitude and an understanding of their role as stewards of the Earth.
One Million Children Praying the Rosary
On the 7th October, Years 5 and 6 will be taking part in Aid to the Church in Need’s initiative, 1 Million Children Praying the Rosary. This special day will connect our pupils with children worldwide in a shared moment of prayer for peace, unity and faith.
