'Living, Loving, Learning Together'
Good Shepherd Mass – Wednesday 11th June 2025
A group of our children had the privilege of attending the Good Shepherd Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool, from 10.30am to 12.00pm on Wednesday 11th June 2025.
This special celebration brought together pupils from Catholic schools across the Archdiocese in support of Nugent, a leading social welfare charity that works alongside schools to support vulnerable children, families and adults in our communities.
The theme of this year’s Mass was “Pilgrims of Hope”, marking the Year of Jubilee 2025—a time for renewal, mercy and joyful hope as we journey together in faith.
The Mass was celebrated by Archbishop John Sherrington, who encouraged all present to be signs of God’s love in the world through acts of kindness and service.
The liturgy was beautifully enriched by music from the Archdiocese School Singing Programme, with voices from schools across the region filling the Cathedral in joyful song. We are especially proud that our own children took part in the choir as members of the Singing Programme, helping to lead the congregation in worship through their singing. It was a truly uplifting experience and a wonderful way for our pupils to live out their faith as part of a wider Catholic community.
After the Mass, our children had the special opportunity to meet Archbishop John Sherrington in person. He warmly greeted them, thanked them for their participation. It was a memorable moment that made the day even more meaningful, as the children felt truly valued and inspired by his kind words and encouragement.
