Leafman

In Reception, children develop their literacy skills through engaging stories like Leaf Man. They explore new vocabulary, practise listening and speaking, and begin to recognise and write letters and words. Activities linked to the story, such as retelling events, creating their own leaf characters, and drawing story maps, help children build confidence in reading and writing. By connecting literacy to hands-on, creative experiences, children learn to enjoy stories while developing essential early reading and writing skills.

Going on a Leaf hunt!

This week, the children went on a leaf hunt inspired by the story Leaf Man! They explored the outdoor environment, collecting different leaves and talking about what they found. Throughout the day, they used new vocabulary they had learned, developing their communication and language skills.

Creating our own Leaf man

This week, the children enjoyed creating their own Leaf Man! They used leaves they had collected to make their own imaginative characters, exploring shape, colour, and texture.
