Welcome to our Year 3 class page! I am Miss Carney, and I am the Year 3 class teacher this year. So far this school year, I have enjoyed getting to know your children. We have had lots of fun so far, and they have been working very hard! I am proud of how quickly they have adapted to Year 3 and some of the fantastic work they have produced during the Autumn term!
Your child may also be supported in their learning by Miss Rose and Mrs Hughes. In our class, we love learning, working together, building self-confidence and celebrating each other’s achievements. Every day is filled with fun, curiosity, creativity, and a determination to do our best.
Throughout the year, your child will explore a rich curriculum, take on greater responsibilities, and continue strengthening their skills in reading, writing, maths, and Religious Education. We always work together with kindness, respect, and enthusiasm.
Each child has been given a reading book and a reading record you can write in. We strongly encourage reading at home every night to support fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. We also encourage a love of reading for pleasure to help children to grow into strong writers with vivid imaginations! We ask that your child brings their book into school each day in their book bag as we try to listen to the children read individually. Book bags can be purchased from the school office if needed.
Homework is given out every Friday and is due back before the following Friday. Homework will always consist of ten weekly spellings, including a mixture of year 3 statutory spellings and vocabulary from across the curriculum. Every Friday, your child will complete a spelling test, so it is important that they practise their spellings daily to support them with this. Homework will also include work to support and consolidate your child's learning that week to prepare them for the next steps in their learning the following week.
Year 3 will have PE on Tuesday afternoons. On these days, children should come to school wearing their full PE kit, including the appropriate footwear, so they are ready to take part comfortably and safely.
This page will keep you updated with important information, class news, and pictures of our learning. If you ever have questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch.
