Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you and your families are all well in this difficult time.
During your child’s time away from school, please take the opportunity to continue to help develop their learning.
Each day, the children should be working on different tasks set through Purple Mash, Mathletics, Times Tables Rockstars and Rising Stars(where they will find reading books and activities). They should also be accessing Spelling Shed every day. Please remind the children, when using Purple Mash to check both the '2dos' and the Y6 folder which can be found by clicking on work, class, Y6. They should also be accessing Spelling Shed every day.
These tasks are linked to the national curriculum and will cover the chosen topics for Year 6. It is important that the children complete the tasks assigned to them. When children hand their work in on Purple Mash, they can send me a message to let me know how they are finding the tasks or ask me questions if they run into any difficulties. It will be a lovely way for the children to keep in touch with me and let me know how they are getting on with their learning at home. I will mark the completed Purple Mash activities and reply to the children’s comments as I am keen to stay in touch and continue to support them with their learning at this challenging time.
Through Purple Mash, I have also set the children reading tasks via 'Serial Mash'. Where they will be tasked to read chapters of an age appropriate book and answer comprehension questions afterwards. There are also additional writing activities that will be set to compliment the chapters.
On Friday, I will share a class timetable for online learning which children who are learning from home should follow where possible.
We will also be sharing lessons and resource through Teams from Friday. It would be useful if you could help your child logon to this for now. There are some sample lessons and tasks uploaded, to try and your child can message me if they have a concern.
Here are a variety of supplementary activities that could be done to support learning your child's learning at home:
I have also provided a number of websites the children could visit to help them with their home learning below:

https://www.literacyshed.com/home.html

Thank you for your on-going support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. All of the children's login details were printed and distributed before the closure but if the children have forgotten any of the login details, please contact the school office where they can provide you with a copy.
Keep safe and I hope to see you all again very soon!
Mrs Reece
